Downtown Nashville
History
Any city that was founded as a fort in 1779 is certain to be packed with history. And Nashville certainly doesn't disappoint in that department. Music City was home to two U.S. presidents, the site of bloody Civil War battles, host of the 1897 World's Fair and the quintessential antebellum Southern city. The Nashville area offers a vivid portrait of a bygone era, featuring graceful architecture, opulent mansions, a rich riverfront merchant district and much more. And Music City is still making history.
Arts
From a musical perspective, Nashville is certainly known as a creative center. Those same artistic instincts extend to visual and performing arts as well. Nashville has long been known as "Athens of the South" for the emphasis it has placed on education and fine arts. The city continues to be home to a vibrant, ever-growing art scene with variety of art museums, galleries, and even a college solely dedicated to fine arts, design and film.
Nashville offers gallery crawls, showings, openings and other events. Check out what's going on in the Arts in Nashville today or even join in on a crawl around the city at one of Nashville's awesome art crawls. First Saturday Art Crawl

Well, here we are. Summer's nearly over. Kids are back in school. The smell of midway food at the fair. That little pigskin flying about, signaling the impending arrival of a chill in the air. It could only mean one thing. That's right, time for a “road trip.” And we can't think of a better stack of reasons to get to Nashville for some great music, food and festivity. Oh sure, once you're in Nashville, there's just all kinds of stuff to do. But, the place to be is right here at the Bluegrass and Roots Music center of the universe… well, sort of.
Every day is a celebration of Bluegrass and Roots Music, here at the Station Inn. Each month, we have a lineup of some of the most incredible pickers, artists and entertainers to take a stage, anywhere. For that, we want to say a heartfelt thanks to players that come in here and make it possible.
So, why should September be any different. Because, again this year, The IBMA World of Bluegrass kicks off on September 26 (runs through October 2). We want to extend a warm welcome to all the WOB folks. We look forward to seeing you again this year. Come on in. And don't forget to say hi.
Bluegrass and Roots Music. You'll find the best of it right here at the Station Inn and you won't want to miss a note. Check out our calendars and see for yourself.
